What will you learn?
The original 6.7L Powerstroke, known as the Scorpion motor, was released in 2011 model year for Ford Super Duty and Chassis narrow-frame trucks. Through the years, the powertrain has brought about challenges and diagnostic techniques needed to repair them. What has also evolved has been horsepower and torque. Tony Salas instructor will present an updated two-day training class on subsystems and the newest information on this engine.
Topics will include:
Common Rail review and updated testing, issues with injectors and CP4 Pump
Turbocharger updates and diagnostics including smoke testing.
Engine, issues with oil leaks and discussion on crankcase ventilation (blowby)
Engine diagnostics using factory Ford software IDS and aftermarket scan tools. Also the introduction of FDRS, Fords new diagnostic software
We'll review on networks and test your knowledge on CAN and local networks
The importance of locating the service manuals and wiring diagrams. Students will then have DTC case studies.
Review the different types of regenerations in the exhaust aftertreatment and cover they system. Also discuss the operation and causes for premature failures in the exhaust aftertreatment.
Revisit NOx and the NOx sensor system including diagnostics on the sensors.
Diagnosis, having a strategy how you diagnose issues.
